Focus Autumn 2017
Often people think they can't sing -and they're always
wrong. Everyone can learn to sing - they just have to
want to enough. It's very much the same with writing.
Anyone can write and improve how they write - all they
need is having something they want to say badly
enough.
It's been said that everyone has at least one story in them that
they'd enjoy telling - and that others would enjoy reading. But
most people never do get round to writing it, whether it's a
poem, a rude limerick or a short novel; or maybe it's a
travelogue, a short piece on the nature and history we're lucky
to be surrounded by; or perhaps just letting off a little steam
on the trials and perils of parenthood. (Or, indeed, the trials
and perils of having a parent!) Whatever it is, we all have
something we want to say, in our own way.
The choice style, and length of what a writer writes, is an
individual thing and at the recently formed Clare Writers Group
we meet with this in mind. We're a small group and we're
looking forward to meeting new members. We meet the first
and third Sundays of each month at 2pm in Clare Library. Small
though we are, we cover a wide range of writing interests from
those who want to write only for themselves and their
immediate circle, to those who have published works either in
hard-copy or in ebook format.
We've all found it beneficial just to meet up and chat, and
sometimes ask for and receive supportive but insightful
feedback on something we've written. So - why not join us, or
at least come along for a session or two, while you decide if it's
something that you'd find useful and enjoyable? You'd be very
welcome
