Created by a self confessed “alternative foodie” this website
serves up lots of delicious-looking alternative recipes and
columns on subjects as varied as meat labelling, eating insects
and Hugh Fearnly-Whittinstall.
The site has been around a while but has
recently been revamped with a responsive
design to make it mobile-friendly, it’s also
easier to search by season, course and
ingredient. Each recipe is easy to follow and
is accompanied by a chatty introduction and an appetising
photo. Focus rating 4 stars

If you like something traditional from ‘Brilliant
Bubble and Squeak’ to ‘Yummy Yorkshire Pudding’
then this is the site for you.
The site has a good range of choices
with classic options for breakfast,
lunch and dinner. Each recipe has a
picture and a clear set of instructions.
There are also some ideas for giving
the standard offering a slightly modern twist.
The downside of this site is the number of unwanted
adverts that come with it but if you ignore these
then it is comprehensive and free.

described as the “jewel in the crown of German wine”, be
prepared for a shock.
Plans are underway to span the Mosel valley with a giant gap
filling 1.7km bridge. This will pass right over the region where
the precious grapes are grown. Wine-lovers claim this will de-

In a spirited fight-back the Mosel winegrowers have won them-
selves some powerful supporters. A group of prominent wine
critics, are working under the name "International Riesling Res-
cue," to limit the impact of the bridge. It remains to be seen
who wins the day the gap or the grape.
