If you are a keen cyclist then you will know about The National
Cycle Network (often known as the NCN). This year the NCN
celebrates it’s 20
th
anniversary.
The NCN is a series of safe, traffic-free paths and quiet on-road
cycling routes that connect to every major town and city. The
Network passes within a mile of half of all UK homes and now
stretches over 14,000 miles across the UK.
Almost 5 million people use the National Cycle Network, and
despite its name, the Network isn't just for cyclists, it’s also
popular with walkers, joggers, wheelchair users and horse
riders too.
In Suffolk there are are large number of routes and if you would
like to know more then TheSouth Suffolk Cycle Route guide
can be obtained from the Sudbury Tourist Information Centre,
The Library, Market Hill, Sudbury, Suffolk, CO10 2EN, Email:

National Cycle Network celebrates 20 years
There’s not a lot of people know that!
The Queen is now officially the longest reigning Monarch of
Britain. She exceeded Queen Victoria’s record this year and
has been on the throne for 63 years and 269 days. This makes
her 46th in the list of the longest reigning monarchs.
If she can keep going until 72 years and 110 days she will beat
Louis XIV of France who weighs in at No. 12 on the list.
However the longest ruler of all was King Sobhuza of Swaziland
who ruled his entire life and died at the age of 82 years and 254
days. This may be a tall order for Her Majesty, but who knows,
after all her mother lived to be over 100 and she may surprise
us all. So long live The Queen.
