Refurbished play areas in Haverhill
to open by Easter
Two new play areas are due to be opened in Haver-
hill by the Easter holidays.
Work on a replacement play area
in Quendon Place and the Haverhill
Recreation Ground has been
approved by Haverhill Council.
Around £150,000 is being invested
in the two schemes to replace
outdated play equipment.
The existing Haverhill Recreation play area will remain open
while landscaping and the installation of a new play area takes
place nearby. The new play area should open by the end of
March. Meanwhile the Quendon Place play area should be fin-
ished by early next month.
Cllr Sarah Stamp, St Edmundsbury Borough Council's Cabinet
Member for Leisure, Culture and Heritage, said: "Both of these
play areas are popular and have served the local community well
over the years. The equipment however is now old and in need
of replacement. “I am delighted that work has started on both of
these play areas”. To minimise any disruption, the existing
Haverhill Recreation ground play facility will remain open until
the new one is completed. If all goes well by the time of the
school Easter holidays, both of these new play areas should be
open and in use.
